BOMBER BAGS BRONZE IN THE PAIRS

Chris 'Bomber' Harris and Kyle Howarth teamed up for a 3rd place bronze medal at the Championship Pairs event at Workington yesterday. The Allied Vehicle Tigers pair managed to top score over the 18 qualifying races with 25 points.

They started their afternoon off with a comfortable 7-2 win over the Berwick Bandits in heat 2, before gaining a slender 5-4 advantage over the Oxford Cheetahs pairing of Sam Masters and Jordan Jenkins.

Scunthorpe were the next pairing to be dismissed by the Tigers with a 6-3 heat advantage before Bomber's second race win of the day secured their second maximum 7-2 advantage over the Edinburgh Monarchs.

However, their afternoon would come to an abrupt end in the first semi final where the Redcar Bears duo of Charles Wright and Erik Riss managed to make a much better start than the Tigers pairing and on a track that was by this point running a lot slicker than earlier in the day, there was no way through for Chris or Kyle.

"Obviously we wanted to win the meeting, and we are disappointed with the result in the semi finals against Redcar as we had been the best pairing on the day, but unfortunately we were out trapped and i tried everything but couldn't get past" said Bomber

"It's nice to start the season with a medal, although would have preferred the gold one!".
